Buying European private label: which manufacturers, and what to check
NordSourced lists 437 manufacturers based in Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, all EU member states, whose own websites say they make products for other brands. For each of six product groups, this section shows the first 5 of the group’s ranked list and what each offers a brand, quoted from its own website. Where a manufacturer is based is one question; where your product originates is another, and you settle it with the manufacturer.

What does “Buy European” mean for a private label product?
Three questions hide inside it, and they can have three different answers. Is the brand European? Some shelf labels and apps check only that: where the company behind the brand is based. Is the manufacturer in Europe? That is what NordSourced shows. Is the product of EU origin? That is a legal question, decided product by product.
Under the Union Customs Code (Article 60), a product made in more than one country takes the origin of the country where it last underwent substantial, economically justified processing. The EU’s detailed rules list operations that do not count, among them simple packaging, such as placing goods in bottles, bags or boxes, and simple assembly of parts (Delegated Regulation (EU) 2015/2446, Article 34). So a manufacturer’s address does not settle origin; what happens to your product there does. Food, cosmetics and textiles add their own labelling rules on top.
What should you ask before “Made in EU” goes on your pack?
Four answers, in writing, for each product: the address where your product will be made and whether any step goes to a subcontractor; what happens to it there, made from raw materials or filled, packed or assembled from something produced elsewhere; where the main ingredients, components or fabric come from; and whether the manufacturer will tell you when a source changes. Give them to whoever signs off your label.
How are the manufacturers chosen, and where do the quotes come from?
For each product group the page takes the first 5 manufacturers of the group’s list across the five countries, in the list’s own order: one published evidence score, then the tie-break the lists use. Nobody is added or left out by hand, a client stays where the formula puts it with its Client tag, and when the list changes the page changes with it. How the score works
What each manufacturer offers a brand is quoted from its own website, with the page linked and the date we read it, and kept only when the sentence was found on that page. A quote is the manufacturer’s claim, not our test: we do not visit factories. How we check
Questions
Are these the best private label manufacturers in Europe?
NordSourced does not name a best manufacturer. For each product group this page shows the first 5 of the group's list, ordered by one published evidence score built from what each manufacturer's own website and the company registers show. A manufacturer lower in the list may suit your product better, so each group links to its full list.
Does NordSourced confirm that a product is of EU origin?
No. NordSourced shows where a manufacturer is based and quotes what it says it makes. Under the Union Customs Code a product takes the origin of the country of its last substantial processing, and simple packaging or simple assembly of parts does not count. Ask the manufacturer what it will do to your product and get it in writing.
Which countries are the manufacturers in?
Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, all EU member states: Finland 103, Sweden 101, Lithuania 86, Latvia 81 and Estonia 66, 437 in all, as of 12 Oct 2026. Each says on its own website that it makes products for other brands.
Can a manufacturer pay to be among the first five?
No. Payment never changes a rank, and the five are taken from the ranked list in its own order. A manufacturer moves up when its own website gives evidence the score counts, such as a quoted minimum order or lead time, or a certificate document we can open.
Looking for a European manufacturer for your product?
Send a brief through the free request form: the product, the quantity, the markets and any certificate your buyer requires. We ask the manufacturers you approve, without your name.
