How many private label manufacturers are in Northern Europe?
NordSourced has found 428. Of the 9,685 company websites it read in Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, 428 belong to manufacturers that say they make products for other brands: Finland 101, Sweden 100, Lithuania 83, Latvia 79 and Estonia 65. That is a floor, not a census. Below: what they make, which services they name, and how many publish a minimum order, a lead time or a certificate.
Five findings
- 428 of the 9,685 company websites NordSourced read (4%) belong to manufacturers that say they make products for other brands.
- 258 of the 428 (60%) are contract manufacturers; the other 170 sell their own brand and say they also make for others.
- Food & beverages (119) is the largest product group, followed by furniture & interior (96) and cosmetics (75); a manufacturer can be in more than one.
- Only 48 (11%) publish a minimum order and 50 (12%) a lead time on their own website.
- 207 (48%) name a certificate, most often ISO 9001; for 22 we opened a certificate document that is still valid.
How many are there in each country and product group?
Finland 101, Sweden 100, Lithuania 83, Latvia 79 and Estonia 65: those are the manufacturers NordSourced lists in each country, 428 in all. By product group, food & beverages 119, furniture & interior 96, cosmetics 75, food supplements 68, household & cleaning 39 and home textiles 31. A manufacturer can be in more than one group, and 27 make products outside the six groups and appear only in the totals, so a row does not add up to its total.
| Country | Cosmetics | Supplements | Furniture & interior | Food & beverages | Home textiles | Household & cleaning | All |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Finland | 17 | 10 | 17 | 43 | 6 | 12 | 101 |
| Sweden | 19 | 12 | 29 | 22 | 3 | 12 | 100 |
| Lithuania | 11 | 15 | 17 | 22 | 12 | 9 | 83 |
| Latvia | 13 | 12 | 18 | 22 | 2 | 3 | 79 |
| Estonia | 15 | 19 | 15 | 10 | 8 | 3 | 65 |
| Northern Europe | 75 | 68 | 96 | 119 | 31 | 39 | 428 |

Do they make only for other brands, or sell their own brand too?
258 of the 428 (60%) are contract manufacturers: making products for other brands is their business. The other 170 (40%) sell products under their own brand and say they also make for other brands or to order. Every profile and list shows which of the two a manufacturer is.
| Country | Contract manufacturer | Own brand, open to OEM |
|---|---|---|
| Finland | 50 (50%) | 51 (50%) |
| Sweden | 75 (75%) | 25 (25%) |
| Lithuania | 54 (65%) | 29 (35%) |
| Latvia | 52 (66%) | 27 (34%) |
| Estonia | 27 (42%) | 38 (58%) |
Both kinds can make your product. A brand that also makes for others may sell something close to your product under its own name, so ask how it keeps the two apart.
Which services do they name?
Private label (241) and contract manufacturing (240) are named most often by the 428 manufacturers. Fewer name development work: formulation and R&D (55), packaging design (46) and regulatory support (21). A manufacturer can name several services, so the rows overlap.
| Service named on the manufacturer’s website | Manufacturers |
|---|---|
| Private label | 241 (56%) |
| Contract manufacturing | 240 (56%) |
| Custom orders | 104 (24%) |
| White label | 69 (16%) |
| Formulation & R&D | 55 (13%) |
| Packaging design | 46 (11%) |
| Regulatory support | 21 (5%) |
| OEM | 14 (3%) |

A minimum order or a lead time counts when it is quoted from the manufacturer’s own page with a link, the way the evidence score counts it. Units differ by product, so NordSourced does not average minimum orders. How to compare minimum orders
Which certificates are named most often?
ISO 9001 (54), HACCP (46) and ISO 14001 (42) are named most often by the 428 manufacturers. A certificate on a website is a claim until the document is seen: the last column counts the manufacturers whose certificate document NordSourced opened and found still valid.
| Certificate | Named by | Valid document opened |
|---|---|---|
| ISO 9001 | 54 | 8 |
| HACCP | 46 | 1 |
| ISO 14001 | 42 | 7 |

What does this mean when you look for a manufacturer?
If you want to compare minimum orders before you write, you are choosing among 48 manufacturers. The price of that filter: it leaves out 380 that may take your order but do not say so online.
If you want a manufacturer whose business is making for others, there are 258. The price: you leave out 170 brands that also make for others.
If you need a formula developed, 55 name formulation or R&D. The price: a short list, and development comes before the first order, in time and in cost.
If you need a certificate you can rely on, start with the 22 manufacturers whose document we opened. The price: a certificate we have not opened is not missing, only unseen, so ask the others for the document.
How was this counted, and what does it leave out?
NordSourced reads company websites found through search and export directories, and lists a company only if its own website says it makes products for other brands. Facts are quoted word for word with a link and the date we checked them; a person reviews every batch before it goes live, and AI tools read sources but never set a position. The listed manufacturers’ websites were checked between 28 Sept 2026 and 3 Oct 2026.
This counts what manufacturers say about themselves. It is not a census and not a test: a manufacturer with no website, or whose website does not say it makes for others, is not counted, and no factory was visited. Product groups follow the products each manufacturer names.

Do private label manufacturers publish their minimum order quantity?
Few do. 48 of the 428 manufacturers NordSourced lists in Northern Europe (11%) state a minimum order on their own website, and 50 (12%) state a lead time. Units differ by product, so compare minimum orders only within one product form, and ask the others directly.

207 of the 428 manufacturers NordSourced lists (48%) name a certificate on their website, most often ISO 9001, HACCP and ISO 14001. For 22 of them NordSourced opened a certificate document that is still valid. A named certificate is a claim: ask for the document and check its scope and end date.

Some say so. 55 of the 428 manufacturers NordSourced lists (13%) name formulation or R&D among their services, and 46 name packaging design. 241 name private label and 240 contract manufacturing. A manufacturer can name several services, so ask which ones apply to your product.
