What are the European alternatives to Alibaba for private label?

There is no single European Alibaba. Buyers combine directories such as Europages, which states over 2.2 million suppliers, manufacturers and wholesalers, sourcing platforms such as Wonnda, the Enterprise Europe Network, free agency services in Estonia and Lithuania, and fairs such as PLMA's World of Private Label on 25-26 May 2027. Few say how they check that a company manufactures.

What can a buyer use instead of Alibaba in Europe?

Six kinds of route. Commercial directories list companies by product; sourcing platforms pass a buyer's request to suppliers; the Enterprise Europe Network runs a partnering database; national agencies run their own supplier services; trade fairs bring manufacturers into one hall; and company registers confirm that a business exists. A buyer can use several of them at once.

How do the European directories and platforms compare?

They differ in size, in who pays and in what they check. The table gives each operator's own figures as its page showed them on 13 October 2026. None of the directory pages says what its badge or its word "vetted" checks, and the largest counts include suppliers and wholesalers as well as manufacturers.

Manufacturers: free listing.Lists a company only when its own website says it makes products for other brands; the sentence is quoted and linked on its profile. No factory audits.

A large count is not a count of manufacturers. Europages counts wholesalers in the same figure, Kompass's 70 million are company records, and Alibaba's European figures date from 2023.

Does Alibaba have a European section?

Yes. Alibaba.com expanded a European Pavilion in a press release of 2 November 2023: products carrying EU or UK certificates such as CE, REACH and UKCA, 8 million listings and 28,000 suppliers in a programme run with TÜV Rheinland. The release does not say in which countries those suppliers are located.

The release quotes Roland Palmer: "Alibaba.com's newly expanded European Pavilion with its eight million product listings is a key resource to change that." No later figures were found, so treat them as 2023 numbers. The certificates named (CE, RoHS, REACH, EMC, UKCA) concern the product, not where the factory is.

Which of these routes check that a company really manufactures?

None of the directory pages read on 13 October 2026 describes a check that a listed company runs its own production. Europages and wlw show a badge without defining it, Wonnda says "vetted" without a method, and IndustryStock does not mention checking. The Enterprise Europe Network's Czech partner says experts vet each profile.

In its words, "each profile is vetted by EEN experts, so you can be sure you are dealing with relevant and trustworthy partners" (Enterprise Europe Network Czech Republic). It does not say that production is inspected. Whichever route you use, check the company yourself: its number in the national register, proof that it makes for other brands, and certificates you can open, as how to check a private label manufacturer explains.

What does each route cost a buyer?

Most cost a buyer nothing or state no price. Wonnda is the only directory read that names a buyer price: a free account and an optional plan at EUR 39 a month. Trade with Estonia and B2Lithuania state that their services are free. A fair costs travel and days away from your desk.

  • Europages: the page offers "Get quotes" and shows no buyer price; suppliers can buy a paid profile, price not shown.
  • wlw: no buyer price stated.
  • Kompass: no buyer price found on the pages read.
  • Wonnda: a free buyer account with the full supplier directory and unlimited sourcing requests, or EUR 39 a month for deeper supplier data and priority support; its about page says it takes no commission.
  • IndustryStock: no buyer price stated; the basic supplier account is free.
  • Enterprise Europe Network: the Czech partner offers free support to create a profile.
  • National agencies: Trade with Estonia's sourcing service is free, B2Lithuania says it is free of charge, and Business Sweden and LIAA state no price.
  • Trade fairs: visitor prices were not part of this check; travel and time are the cost you can count on.
  • NordSourced: free for buyers, with no account.

Where does NordSourced fit among these routes?

NordSourced is a directory of 443 private label and contract manufacturers in five countries only: Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. A company is listed only when its own website says it makes products for other brands; that sentence is quoted and linked on its profile. It is free for buyers and does not cover the rest of Europe.

It does not audit factories or rate product quality, as the trust page states. Each list is ordered by a published evidence score; see how we rank.

What does your product or situation decide for you?

Three things narrow the choice: the product group, how sure you need to be that the company manufactures, and whether you can travel. A product group with its own fair points to that fair; a need for proof points to registers and quoted evidence; no travel points to agencies and directories.

Questions and answers

Is there a European version of Alibaba?

Not as one marketplace. Sourcing in Europe is split between directories such as Europages and wlw, platforms such as Wonnda, the Enterprise Europe Network, national agency services and trade fairs. Alibaba.com itself expanded a European Pavilion of EU- or UK-certified products in 2023, but its release does not say where the suppliers in it are located.

How many companies does Europages list?

Europages states that "every month, 1 million buyers use our database of over 2.2 million suppliers, manufacturers, and wholesalers". Its owner Visable says more than 2.8 million European companies appear on its B2B marketplaces, Europages and wlw. Neither page, read on 13 October 2026, says how many of them manufacture.

Is Wonnda free for buyers?

Yes, with a paid option. Wonnda's pricing page offers a free buyer account with the full supplier directory and unlimited sourcing requests, and a plan at EUR 39 a month for deeper supplier data and priority support. Suppliers list for free and pay no commission. Wonnda states 20,000+ vetted manufacturers without describing how it vets them.

Who owns Kompass now, and how big is it?

Expandi Limited announced on 3 March 2026 that it had acquired 100% of Kompass. Its release cites a database of more than 70 million companies worldwide, 4 million monthly visitors and 25 languages. Those are company records, not a count of manufacturers, and no buyer price was found on the pages read.

Do European B2B directories check that a supplier is really a manufacturer?

Not on the pages read on 13 October 2026. Europages and wlw show a badge without defining it, IndustryStock does not mention checking, and Wonnda calls its manufacturers vetted without describing a method. Check each lead yourself in its national company register and ask for proof that it makes products for other brands.

What is the Enterprise Europe Network partnering database?

A database of business offers and enquiries kept by the Enterprise Europe Network. Its Czech partner, co-financed by the EU and the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, describes thousands of offers and enquiries from over 60 countries, says experts vet each profile, and gives free support to create one. It does not say that production is inspected.

Can a government agency find me a supplier in the Baltics?

In Estonia, yes: Trade with Estonia runs a free sourcing service that sends a foreign buyer a list of potential Estonian partners and names private label production. Lithuania's B2Lithuania is a free platform for finding manufacturers. Latvia's LIAA publishes a database of exporters with turnover and export volume, but no private label field.

Are the suppliers in Alibaba's European Pavilion based in Europe?

The release does not say. Alibaba.com's release of 2 November 2023 describes products with EU or UK certificates, 8 million listings and 28,000 suppliers in a programme run with TÜV Rheinland, aimed at European buyers. It also says Alibaba.com serves buyers and suppliers from over 200 countries and regions. No newer figures were found.

Which European sourcing sites are free for buyers?

Of the routes checked on 13 October 2026, Wonnda offers a free buyer account, Trade with Estonia and B2Lithuania say their services are free, and NordSourced is free without an account. Europages, wlw, Kompass and IndustryStock show no buyer price on the pages read, which is not the same as saying they are free.

Where can I find private label cosmetics manufacturers in Northern Europe instead of on Alibaba?

NordSourced lists 75 cosmetics manufacturers in Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia whose own websites say they make products for other brands; see the Northern Europe cosmetics list. At fairs, Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna runs Cosmopack on 18-20 March 2027, and Baltic Beauty takes place in Riga on 6-8 November 2026.

How many private label manufacturers does NordSourced list, and in which countries?

443, data of 14 Oct 2026: Sweden 104, Finland 104, Lithuania 87, Latvia 82, Estonia 66. Each is listed because its own website says it makes products for other brands, and the sentence is linked on its profile. NordSourced covers only these five countries, so for a manufacturer elsewhere in Europe use the directories, the Enterprise Europe Network or a national agency.

How do I check a company I found in a directory?

Look up its registration number in the national company register, then ask for evidence that it runs its own production and makes for other brands, and for certificates you can open. In the five countries NordSourced covers the searches are free: Bolagsverket in Sweden, YTJ information service in Finland, and the Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian registers.
