Which manufacturers in Northern Europe design packaging for your brand?
9 of the 443 manufacturers listed on NordSourced say on their own websites that they design packaging or labels for the brands they make for (data of 2026-10-14). 76 mention packaging or packing at all, and for most of them it means packing on the production line. The design, the artwork files and the label's legal content are separate questions.
Which manufacturers say they design packaging or labels?
9 manufacturers do, in their own words: a sentence on their website, linked below, says they design packaging, labels or both. They make cosmetics (2), food supplements (4), food and beverages (3) and household and cleaning products (1); one in two groups counts in both. The order is by country, then name, and is not a ranking.

What does your artwork decide for you?
Whether you arrive with finished artwork decides which manufacturer you need. With print-ready files, any manufacturer that packs and labels can work from them. With a brand but no design, you need one that designs, or your own designer. With a ready-made product in a standard pack, you may only need your label on it.
| You have | Look for | What it costs you | Ask |
|---|---|---|---|
| Print-ready artwork | A manufacturer that packs and labels | Your designer's work, plus time to fit files to the manufacturer's pack sizes | The template and print specification of the pack, before your designer starts |
| A brand, but no packaging design | A manufacturer that designs packaging or labels (9 on this page), or your own designer | The manufacturer's design work, if charged, and a decision on who owns the result | Whether design is a separate line in the quotation, and who holds the files afterwards |
| A ready-made product you want under your brand | A manufacturer with a standard pack and label | Less choice: the pack is the manufacturer's standard one | Which changes to the pack and label the starting offer includes |
A change to a ready-made product, its pack or its label can turn white label into a small development project, as the guide to white label, private label and contract manufacturing explains.
Who owns a packaging design the manufacturer makes for you?
The agreement decides, so settle it before the design work starts. Ask who owns the finished design, whether you receive the editable artwork files and in which formats, and whether you may use them with another manufacturer or printer. Ask too who owns any printing plates or tools made for your pack, and get the answers in writing.
The same logic applies to a formula the manufacturer develops for you: paying for the work does not by itself make the result yours. See which manufacturers develop the product for you and what a private label agreement should contain.
Who is responsible for what the label says?
In general, the brand that places the product on the market, not the manufacturer that designed the label. A manufacturer can lay out the label and check it against the rules it knows, but that help does not move the legal responsibility for what the label says. The rules differ by product group and are explained on separate pages.
- Cosmetics: what a brand needs to sell private label cosmetics in the EU.
- Food and food supplements: who is responsible for the label of a private label food and how to launch a private label food supplement.
- Home textiles: what the label of a textile product must say.
- Who counts as the manufacturer in law: is my brand legally the manufacturer?
What should I ask a manufacturer that offers packaging design?
Ask what the design work includes, what it costs and what you own at the end. A quotation that gives only a price per unit may leave design out or fold it into the first order. The questions below separate the design from the packing, and the layout from the legal content of the label.
- Does the design cover the label only, or the box and the outer carton too?
- Is design a separate line in the quotation, and how many rounds of changes does it include?
- Who owns the finished design, and do I receive the editable files?
- Which pack sizes and materials can the manufacturer fill, and what is the minimum for a printed pack?
- Does the manufacturer check the label text against the rules, and for which markets?
- Who corrects and pays for a reprint if the label has to change?
How this page selects: a manufacturer is listed when a sentence on its own website, quoted with a link, says it designs packaging or labels, in English, Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Finnish or Swedish. A manufacturer that designs without saying so is not listed. Nothing here was ordered or tested. See how we check, and tell us if a sentence has changed.
Questions and answers
Which supplement manufacturers in the Baltics design labels and packaging?
3 food supplement manufacturers based in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia say on their own websites that they design packaging or labels: Millmax in Latvia, Pharma Manufacture (Client) in Latvia and Made Group in Lithuania. Ask each one who owns the design and whether you receive the files. Data of 2026-10-14.
Which cosmetics manufacturers in Northern Europe offer packaging design?
2 cosmetics manufacturers listed on NordSourced say on their own websites that they design packaging or labels: Fitodroga in Latvia and Millmax in Latvia. Ask whether design is a separate line in the quotation, and ask the others whether they work from your artwork. Data of 2026-10-14.
Can a private label manufacturer in Latvia design my packaging?
Yes, some say so. 3 manufacturers based in Latvia say on their own websites that they design packaging or labels for brands: Fitodroga, Millmax and Pharma Manufacture (Client). Ask who owns the finished design before the work starts, and whether you receive the editable files.
Which manufacturers both develop the formula and design the packaging?
4 of the 9 manufacturers that say they design packaging or labels are also marked on NordSourced for product development: Fitodroga in Latvia, Millmax in Latvia, Pharma Manufacture (Client) in Latvia and Made Group in Lithuania. One partner for both can shorten a launch. Ask who owns the formula and who owns the design, as two separate questions.
Is packaging design included in the manufacturer's price?
The websites quoted on this page do not say. Ask whether design is a separate line in the quotation, how many rounds of changes it includes and whether it is charged when you do not go on to order. A price per unit alone does not show whether design work is in it.
Do I get the artwork files if the manufacturer designs my packaging?
Only if the agreement says so. Ask before the design work starts who owns the finished design, whether you receive the editable files and in which formats, and whether you may use them with another manufacturer or printer. Get the answer in writing.
Can I use my own designer with a private label manufacturer?
Yes, if the manufacturer works from client artwork, which is worth asking before you choose it. Ask for the template and the print specification of the pack before your designer starts, so the files fit the pack sizes and the printing method on the first try.
What is the difference between packaging design and packing?
Packaging design is the look of the pack and label: layout, colours, text placement and the artwork files. Packing is putting the product into its container and box on the production line. On NordSourced, 9 manufacturers say they design, against 58 that name packing only. A quotation should show which it includes.
Does the manufacturer make sure my label is legal?
Some say they check labels against the rules; see which manufacturers help with the regulatory work. That help does not, in general, move the legal responsibility for the label away from the brand that places the product on the market. The rules for each product group are on separate pages.
Can I change the packaging of a white label product?
Ask before you plan on it. A change to a ready-made product, its pack or its label can turn white label into a small development project. Ask which changes the starting offer includes, what each change costs and whether it changes the minimum order.
Why does a profile show packaging design when the website only mentions packing?
The "Packaging design" label on 46 profiles reads each website as a whole and also covers packing work. This page is stricter: it lists only manufacturers with a sentence saying they design packaging or labels. If a profile reads wrong, tell us.
Who pays if a label has to be reprinted?
The agreement decides. Ask before the first order who corrects a label that has to change, who pays for the reprint and for packs already printed, and whether it matters who made the mistake. The answer depends on who wrote the text and who approved the final proof.
